Kevin Nolan
This is not a thread to slag him off. I just read this on the transfer thread and actually kinda felt sorry for him. He has served us well and yes it is time to move on but that does not mean we have to hate him. At the end of the day it is not his fault if managers keep choosing him.

Re: The Transfer Rumours Thread
FWIW I recently spoke to someone that knows Nolan pretty well. Apparently he's absolutely gutted at the way the crowd (or at least the moronic part of our support) now react to him. He was really proud of the way they got a proper team together to get us out of the Championship and kept us up. He loves the club, so I'm told. So, for me, I'll always be grateful for what he has done.

I would keep him around to see out his contract and then shake his hand and let him walk on a free.

I know a lot will disagree with this but that's the modern West Ham fan!

Man gets paid 50k a week to be a shit footballer, but the ones who pay a lot of money to watch him are the morons and WE should feel sorry for HIM??

WOW! Have you ever tried the real world, Steven P?

Re: Kevin Nolan
Mostly agree, PD. It is not his fault that he keeps getting picked even though he is not up to it.

Can't be a great feeling to have a crowd on your back but 50k a week goes a long way to compensate.

Re: Kevin Nolan
Good luck to him if he goes. He's been top scorer for us a couple of times and I'm sure he's thick skinned against the abusers that his family have had to also endure. 🐓

Agree Steven.

What it does teach you though is not to listen to everyone you hear. To remember you can't please everyone.

What it proves to you is that there is no overwhelming majority or intellect or rationale amongst our pocket of the Human race.

Twitter and whatnot has given everyone in todays society the impression that no matter what, your opinion is valid. Well I'm sorry, some idiots don't deserve a voice.

The fact is, Nolan has been pretty much the focal point in our clubs turnaround. But hey, I'm just a guy with his emotions in check. I'm in the minority.

Some of these footballers need to grow up, if they don't know how fickle fans are, they are in the wrong profession.

Re: Kevin Nolan
He has done well for us, by enlarge but it is time to move on and that's just football. As with life in general if it's time to move on then you have to accept that.

It's clear to anyone that his performances have declined and he wasn't on it for most of last season so this should not come as a massive shock.

Slow_Joe 12:36 Sat Jul 25
Re: Kevin Nolan
Well all he needs to do is put in a few good performances and he would have won the crowd back.. It's quite simple.

But he is unable to do this, so he gets no sympathy from me.

Bench for me, he still has a part to play in the dressing room.

Football ey, association football. Father and son on the terraces. Father having a cheeky pint at HT, mother at home preparing tea. Oooh. Results at 4:45, highlights on MOTD. Ooooh, football.

"I would keep him around to see out his contract and then shake his hand and let him walk on a free"

Whilst I agree that the small minority that boo him are fucking idiots, he needs to understand that's modern football fans.

However he's not doing himself any favours with the pathetic displays where he clearly couldn't give a fuck against this Maltase mob.

The best thing to happen would be to grant him a free transfer now and let him walk away.

Re: Kevin Nolan
He was a passenger for much of last season and hopefully won't feature much (if at all) this season.

That said, he's still been a great value signing. Scored the goals to get us up, then scored the goals to keep us up (twice).

As for the stick he gets, I think that's more to do with the ill-feeling directed at Allardyce.

Crassus 3:17 Sat Jul 25
Re: Kevin Nolan
Thing with him is that he is generally considered a cunt by other fans, his arrival here has never really translated into the percieved wisdom of he is a cunt but our cunt - I dont think he ever really had anything beyond a necessary evil status

Bit like his manager really

Not altogether fair but perception is greater than reality - either way his useful time is no served, free to anyone that will have him is the best route now

Lily Hammer 4:31 Sat Jul 25
Re: Kevin Nolan
If you must boo, boo the manager who picked him, but that's still a bit wanky.

He's has nearly always put in a shift, just that his shift is not up to 90 minute shifts anymore. Could still make a useful sub for the last 20/30 minutes over this loooong season coming up.

Hermit Road 4:35 Sat Jul 25
Re: Kevin Nolan
He's been incapable of putting in a shift for the past year at least, partly it seems because he puts too many shifts in at the pub and the chippy after, rather than the training ground.
